Alyssa & Jacob: Relaxed Summer Wedding in Stafford

I first met Alyssa back in college at JMU, as she was the sweet sister of my friend, Ashley. Ashley and I worked at UREC together for many years, and as soon as we moved back to Charlottesville, we reconnected as she had moved here shortly after school. Soon after moving, I got the sweetest email from her sister, Alyssa, as she was recently engaged.
If you’ve met Alyssa or Ashley, you know these girls are just pure gems. I have never seen either of them without a smile on their face, and their kindness is contagious. Alyssa and her fiance, Jacob, met me for coffee to talk about their wedding day. They had met during their graduate studies at American University in an environmental science class, which is so fitting for these two and their passion for the outdoors.
But what I love even more is their proposal story! They both loved listening to different podcasts, and Jacob saw that the Story Corps team was having open interviews in DC, and he signed up for an interview spot for him and Alyssa. Little did Alyssa know that he had secured a spot so that he could ask her to marry him! He asked her after a bit into the interview, and now the interview will be archived in the Library of Congress – what a dear memento!
The forecast called for rain all day on their wedding day, but thankfully, nothing but clouds threatened their day and it was a cool day in May for these two to say their vows. The entire day was relaxed, just like Alyssa & Jacob. Not a worry was in sight, and these two simply celebrated well and loved well.
Congratulations, you two! It was an honor to be a part of your wedding day!
