Kat & Stu: Fall Berkeley Plantation Wedding in Richmond, VA

Weddings

Kat & Stu celebrated their marriage on a lovely day in October with every single detail being so beyond intentional. These two met and fell in love at William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA and Stu also proposed with a gorgeous sapphire engagement ring at William & Mary’s homecoming. So, it was only fitting they would plan their wedding ceremony at The Wren Chapel on William & Mary’s campus.

Kat & Stu both currently live in Georgia but wanted to celebrate their first day as husband and wife in a place that soaked with special meaning for them. Kat grew up in Chicago but has family in England, and Stu’s family was coming from the South, so they decided to tie in special elements from each part of their story into their fall wedding. Their welcome boxes included pieces of their story like Georgia peanuts, a Chicago Cubs hat, and vintage Williamsburg postcards. Guests were treated to a dinner of special plates with different themes that were an ode to Kat & Stu’s story (think fish & chips, shepherd’s pie, and sliders!) and then sent off with favors of breadsticks and the famous Cheese Shop dressing (because who doesn’t love The Cheese Shop!?).

After their Williamsburg ceremony, we headed over to the Berkeley Plantation (the site of the first Thanksgiving!), as they enjoyed little day trips together to the plantation during their college years. Between the colonial architecture and fall jewel tones, it was the perfect setting for their fall wedding. They had a gorgeous lounge area set up for their guests after the cocktail hour as their tented reception overlooked the James River.

To say these two love their friends & family well would be such an understatement. And to say these two are adored by their dear friends & family would be an equal understatement. Kat & Stu, it was such a joy to watch you two together. It was a joy to document your first day as husband & wife, and I hope these photos bring you joy for years to come!
