Golden Summer Lifestyle Family Photos in Charlottesville, VA: The Bricker Family

It’s always a joy to work with families year after year, as I adore watching children grow and their personalities come to life. You may remember the Bricker family from their super fun pjs & pop-tarts session last summer, and I’m equally in love with their session this year!

When Elisa and I discussed their session for this summer, I imagined documenting their everyday lives in the beautiful golden light of summer. Think popsicles, dinner on the porch, glowy light and enjoying the outdoors in the final days of summer. Elisa always knows how to prepare the most beautiful and gracious spread, and she certainly didn’t disappoint for our session. She “just whipped it up” but isn’t it the loveliest dinner?

My favorite part about our sessions together is simply documenting the season they are in. As a mother myself, I’ve found the simple ins and outs of daily life can be the most beautiful. Sharing meals together, reading together, playing together….all this time together adds up to a beautiful life and a story worth sharing. So yes, we did get a few portraits but I also stepped into a pretty typical evening for their family (maybe just a little more dressed up version, ha!) so they could press pause and have photographs to look back on as the years press on.
