Classic Winter Wedding in Richmond, VA: Katie & Mark

I first met these two for their engagement session at Maymont this past spring. We spent the nicest afternoon with blooms all around and we talked about their wedding day, which felt so far off. Yet, here we are, reliving their wedding day. Katie & Mark both have such warm personalities and classic style, which is the perfect way to describe their wedding day – warm (even though it was freezing outside!) and classic!

Leading up to their wedding day, the forecast called for nothing but rain. Since their ceremony was indoors at the gorgeous St. Bridget Catholic Church, my prayer was that the clouds would part at least for their portraits. On the wedding day, gray clouds hovered, but rain didn’t fall until we were all cozy in the reception hall! What a blessing!

Katie & Mark originally met in high school and ended up both attending Virginia Tech as well. Their friendship grew and they began dating at Virginia Tech and the rest is history – you can absolutely tell these two are simply best friends. And that in itself is a beautiful picture. Since they knew each other from high school, their wedding day included guests from so many different seasons and layers of their lives together and it was a joy to watch them celebrate so well with the people they love so dearly. It was so evident how well they were loved as well, and Katie’s dad’s toast will be one of the most memorable toasts of my career. Seeing a father-daughter bond like theirs is beyond moving!
